1972 - Carly Simon released "You're So Vain."
1973 - The Who, along with some friends and crew, spent the night in jail after causing $6,000 worth of damage to a hotel room after a concert.
1973 - Bob Dylan started a system in which he accepted ticket requests by mail, and eventually sold over 658,000 tickets.
1974 - Ravi Shankar was admitted to a Chicago hospital after suffering chest pains. He would later rejoin George Harrison on tour a week later.
1979 - Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge were divorced.
1986 - Jerry Lee Lewis headed to the Betty Ford Clinic to shake his painkiller addition.
1986 - Annie Lennox tore off her bra while playing a concert in front of 10,000 fans in Birmingham, England.
1988 - Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS sat down with Willie Nelson on Geraldo to discuss "Sex on the Road."
1996 - Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz tore a ligament and cartilage in his knee after taking a tumble at a concert in New York. The singer later had surgery during the band's Christmas break.
