1955 - Buddy Holly, Larry Welborn, and Bob Montgomery opened for Bill Haley & the Comets at a show in Lubbock, Texas. Eddie Crandell was stunned by the show and afterword arranged for Holly to record his first demo.
1957 - Elvis Presley released "Jailhouse Rock".
1964 - The Rolling Stones Charlie Watts secretly married Shirley Ann Arnold.
1966 - Grace Slick took the stage for the first time with Jefferson Airplane.
1971 - John Lennon and Yoko Ono appeared on ABCs The Dick Cavett Show to promote Lennon's new album and film Imagine, as well as a book, two films and a fine arts show by Yoko.
1972 - Joe Cocker and his band were arrested in Adelaide, Australia after police claimed to have confiscated marijuana, heroin and hypodermic syringes.
1975 - KISS released their anthemic song, "Rock & Roll All Night.
1981 - Prince released his album Controversy.
1997 - Paul McCartney debuted his symphonic poem Standing Stone.
2000 - A lawsuit was filed against Don Henley in Little Rock, Arkansas. The plaintiff claimed that he was hit in the head by a maraca at a concert on October 4th of that year.
