1962 - Little Richard headlined a show in Liverpool, with a then relatively unknown group called the Beatles serving as an opening act.
1968 - The Jimi Hendrix Experience got its start in London.
1968 - John Sebastian departed the Lovin' Spoonful to pursue a solo career.
1975 - Rod Stewart and the Faces performed their final concert together. The band broke up after Stewart s endeavors to further develop his solo career.
1978 The Sex Pistols Sid Vicious was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, who was found dead with several knife wounds in her abdomen. However, Vicious died of a heroin overdose before his trial ever began.
1983 - Karen Carpenter earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
1985 - The B-52s' Ricky Wilson died at the age of 32 from complication of AIDS.
1991 - The RIAA certified Nirvana's breakthrough album Nevermind as a gold record.
1996 - The film documentary The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was released. The work had been filmed nearly thirty years earlier in December 1968.
1997 - John Denver died at 53 years of age when the plane he was piloting crashed in Monterey Bay, California.
