1976 - RCA Victor records announced that sales of Elvis Presley records passed the 400 million mark.

1990 - Ratt released their album Detonator.

1992 - Sting married long time girlfriend Trudi Styler.

1993 - Bernie Taupin, the lyricist for Elton John, married Stephanie Haymes.

1994 - After crashing his Porsche into a tree, John Denver was charged with drunken driving.

1995 - R.E.M. sued Hershey Foods after the candymakers ran a "Kit Kat - R.E.M. Concert" sweepstakes in their chocolate bars. The suit was later dropped.

1996 - Former Talking Heads singer David Byrne sued to keep his former bandmates from touring as "The Heads," though the suit was settled out of court.

1997 - At the San Francisco Hard Rock Cafe, Carlos Santana held a press conference in which he unveiled a limited-edition t-shirt featuring his artwork. The guitarist personally autographed 500 of the garments for distribution to foreign and domestic markets.
