1977 – After the passing of Elvis Presley, Florists Transworld Delivery (FTD) reported that they’d received more orders in one day for flower deliveries to Graceland than any other event in the company's history.

1983 – Prince released his song "Delirious.”

1984 - Elton John announced on the first night of his Breaking Hearts Tour that he was retiring from touring.

1984 - Motley Crue made their live debut at the Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donington, England.

1986 - Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen played the first show back with his band after losing his left arm in a car accident.

1995 - Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan attempted suicide at a Sunset Strip hotel, though he was hospitalized and later recovered.

1995 - Security guards dragged Hole frontwoman Courtney Love offstage after she began fighting with fans. Love was disappointed because the audience wasn’t cheering loud enough on the final night of the Lollapalooza tour in Mountain View, California.

1998 - Carlos Santana earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
