1958 - Buddy Holly married Maria Elena Santiago in a private ceremony at his parents Lubbock, Texas home.
1965 - The Beatles set an attendance record with their Shea Stadium concert, drawing 56,000 screaming fans to the show.
1969 - The Woodstock Music and Art Fair kicked off in Bethel, NY. The iconic three-day concert featured 24 bands and drew nearly half a million people.
1980 - George Harrison's book I Me Mine hit stores.
1987 Ten years after the death of Elvis Presley, thousands of fans marched past his grave in Memphis, Tennessee.
1991 - Paul Simon performed a free show at New York's Central Park for an estimated 750,000 people.
