1970 – The film Ned Kelly, which featured Mick Jagger in his acting debut, opened.
1973 - Grand Funk Railroad released "We're An American Band.”
1973 - A rock festival in Watkins Glen, New York drew an estimated 600,000 people to watch The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and The Band perform.
1979 - Cleveland Stadium hosted The World Series of Rock, featuring Journey, Ted Nugent and Thin Lizzy.
1987 - The Beatles sued Nike and Capitol Records after their song "Revolution" was used in shoe commercials.
1993 - 10,000 Maniacs played their last gig with vocalist Natalie Merchant, who departed afterward to pursue a solo career.
1995 - Jimi Hendrix's father Al Hendrix won back the rights to his son's name, likeness, image and music after several companies had used his brand to make a profit for years.
2001 - The Eagles played the first show at Dallas, Texas’ American Airlines Center.
