1953 - Elvis Presley recorded "My Happiness" for his mother. It was his first recording.

1964 - The Beatles released their album A Hard Days Night.

1968 - The Grateful Dead released their sophomore effort, Anthem of the Sun.

1970 - Pink Floyd and Deep Purple teamed up to play a free show at London's Hyde Park.

1974 - The United States Justice Department ordered John Lennon out of the country by September 10th. He was denied an extension of his non-immigrant visa by the Immigration and Naturalization Service because of a 1968 guilty plea to a marijuana possession charge in England.

2001 - The original movie Hysteria - The Def Leppard Story premiered on MTV.

2006 - Carmen Electra filed for a divorce from Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro.
