1957 - Buddy Holly recorded his classic song "Peggy Sue."

1967 - Keith Richards was found guilty of allowing his property to be used for the smoking of marijuana and was consequently fined and sentenced to a year in jail. Mick Jagger was was sentenced to three months in jail after being found guilty of illegal possession of pep pills.

1968 - Pink Floyd released their second album, A Saucerful of Secrets.

1969 - The Jimi Hendrix Experience played their last show on the final day of the Denver Pop Festival.

1973 - Following a concert in Japan, Ian Gillan left Deep Purple.

1978 - Peter Frampton was involved in a car crash in the Bahamas, suffering a broken arm and cracked ribs.

1993 - Aerosmith released their single "Cryin,” from their album Get A Grip.

2000 – Vandals defaced the graves of Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The two men were killed in a plane crash on October 20, 1977.
